The St. Louis Tennis Association was formed on April 10, 1917 as part of the U.S. Lawn Tennis Association. The name was changed in 1920 to St. Louis District Tennis Association when it joined the newly formed Missouri Valley Section.
The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis in the United States. The USTA is organized geographically into 17 sections.
The USTA Missouri Valley Section encompasses the five-state region of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, and is further divided into 7 districts. The districts include the 5 states plus 2 metro areas - St. Louis and Heart of America (a.k.a. Kansas City).
Better known as USTA St. Louis, the St. Louis District Tennis Association serves the St. Louis metro area including 10 surrounding counties (Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, Perry, St. Charles, St. Francois, St. Genevieve, St. Louis, Warren and Washington), the City of St. Louis, and Illinois within a 30-mile radius of St. Louis City Hall.

Our volunteer committee members play an important role in both policy and programming. There are District committees that work on local issues and Section committees that rely on district representation. The consistent thread among committee members is a sincere desire to grow the game and to improve how we deliver tennis in our community.
District Committee terms are typically two to three years. Open application periods for District Committees will be posted here and on our social media platforms.
Section Committee terms are 2 years, starting in odd years, and open application periods will generally be mid-November to mid-December prior to the new term. Section Committees/Chairs can be viewed here.
